How to prevent Caregiver burn out




Caring for a loved one can be extremely stressful. And especially because there is no handbook, caring for your loved can sometimes leave us feeling burnt out, depressed and unhopeful for the future. One of the best ways to cope when you are caring for a loved one is knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that you are not alone. 1. Know that you are not alone


It is is easy to feel as though you are all alone when it comes to caring for your loved one. The enemy will try to distract you and try to force you believe that what you are all alone in this journey. God knows the challenges that you are facing and He wants you to know that He is with you every step of the way. Isaiah 41:10 tells us to "do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you;I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Whatever you are facing, please know that if you feel as though no one can understand or relate to what you are going through, know that God has your back and you can run to Him with your problems.


2. Know that with God, all things are possible


When things gets hard, it is easy to believe that you can not go on any longer. God wants you to know that with Him, all things are possible. If you are relying on your own strength, you will be limited, however, when you depend on God's mercy to help you, nothing will be impossible for you. Luke 1:37 tells us "For with God nothing shall be impossible." Understand that things will get hard sometimes, but there is nothing that you can't overcome through the power of Jesus Christ.


3. Never stop praying


One of our greatest weapons that you have when it comes to overcoming Caregiver burnout is to pray constantly. Whenever you are stressing out and things are becoming too much for you, it's time to go to a quite place and pray. Pray to God and ask God for patience, understanding and hope. The bible tells us that we should pray continuously and without ceasing.Psalm 34:17-18 tells us that “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Remember when life's troubles have gotten you down for the day, look to God and pray. His strength will help you overcome anything.


4. Focus on the good times and memories


The enemy's main goal is to cause you to focus on the bad times so that you can stay depressed, sad and feeling down. God encourages us to focus on the good times. This will help boost your mood and help you overcome your weary spirit. During times of difficulties, pull out an old photo album and take a look at the memories when your Loved One was happy and healthy. This will leave your heart and spirit feeling glad, even if it's just for a temporary moment. Philippians 4:8 tells us to think good thoughts and whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.


5.Ask for help


Lastly, God calls us to ask for help when we need it.
